Vallarta Supermarkets opened April 1 at 9040 Foothill Boulevard on the corner of Vineyard. The 60,000-square-foot store, situated in Orchard Plaza, is Vallarta's sixth outpost in the Inland Empire, and the first location to house Costa de Oro, a made-to-order, in-store seafood restaurant offering fresh meals like seafood tostadas and shrimp tacos. If you haven't been in, the seafood counter is the reason to walk past the produce first. The opening created 219 jobs in Rancho Cucamonga, which is a bigger deal for a single grocery opening than most local coverage let on.
Fogo de Chão signed for 12240 Foothill Boulevard. The 8,257 square foot venue is Fogo de Chão's 16th outlet in the state, and it puts a full-service churrascaria within a short drive of the Victoria Gardens lawn. If you've been driving to Ontario or Chino Hills for that kind of dinner, that trip is about to shorten considerably.
Wagyu Factory, part of Chubby Group, is preparing to open a location at 10890 Foothill Blvd. The Rancho site follows its first two restaurants in Lake Forest and Tustin. Timing is still soft. A company representative told What Now that the Rancho address is "still in the works and hasn't been confirmed yet," though the brand's Instagram lists it as "coming soon". Worth watching if you like all-you-can-eat formats.
Prime Pizza is the fourth. The Los Angeles chain has multiple locations across Los Angeles, just debuted in Orange County, and will be opening a shop in Rancho Cucamonga. No confirmed street address yet.
And Durango Cocina & Rooftop already opened last spring as the city's first rooftop restaurant and bar. If you've somehow missed it, the rooftop is the differentiator. There isn't another one in town.
